Ontario is the largest Province of Canada by population, and is located in the
eastern central part of Canada. It is often broken into two regions, Southern
Ontario and Northern Ontario.
The vast majority of Ontario's population is situated in the southern Ontario,
mostly along the northern lake shores of Lake Ontario and Lake Erie. The
province's largest metropolitan area and Toronto, is the capital city of
Ontario, and is also Canada's largest city, Ottawa, the nations capital, is
located in Ontario as well.
However, three-quarters of Ontario's land mass by contrast, is referred to as
northern Ontario, which is a sparsely populated and beautiful wilderness area,
with an abundance of secluded lakes and interesting areas to visit for a
back-to-nature recharge - if that's what you're after.
Incredibly, Ontario is home to about 250,000 freshwater lakes and rivers, and
the fishing is legendary.
There's absolutely no shortage of stuff to see and do in Ontario, and with the added bonus
of the safety, security and infrustructure of a truly "first world" country.
Enjoy your stay!
